From Zero to Hero: How to Build a Loyal Fan Base on TikTok

We asked one of our amazing ATRX Creators to write about their experience on the road to 100K. Here’s what they had to say:

Hello fellow creators,

If I had to start from scratch and build my fan base of over 100K followers on TikTok again, here's what I would do:

Firstly, I would focus on creating high-quality content that's unique and resonates with my audience. It's important to find a niche or theme that aligns with your interests and passions, and that your audience can relate to. Whether it's funny skits, makeup tutorials, or cooking videos, you need to find a niche that you can excel at and that will set you apart from other creators.

For me, I started with creating videos about my favorite makeup looks, as well as some fun challenges that my friends and I would do together. I would try to add my own personal spin to each video, whether it was through my unique humor or by adding a relatable story to the video. By creating content that was both engaging and personal, I was able to build a connection with my audience, and keep them coming back for more.

Next, I would work on my engagement with my audience. This means replying to comments, interacting with my followers, and showing appreciation for their support. Building a loyal fan base on TikTok requires a two-way relationship with your audience. By engaging with your followers, you'll build a community that feels connected to you and your content.

At first, it can be overwhelming to respond to every comment or message, but as your fan base grows, you can prioritize by responding to the comments that are the most relevant or add value to the conversation. I would also make an effort to create content that specifically asked for feedback or participation from my followers, such as asking them for suggestions on future video ideas or inviting them to participate in a challenge. This helped to build a sense of community among my followers, and kept them coming back for more.

I would also collaborate with other creators in my niche. Collaborating with other creators can help you tap into new audiences and expand your reach. It's important to collaborate with creators who have similar interests and styles as you, so that the collaboration feels authentic and natural.

When I was first starting out, I would reach out to other creators in the beauty and makeup niche, and ask if they would be interested in collaborating on a video together. This helped to introduce my content to their followers, and vice versa. I found that collaborations were a great way to get more exposure on the platform, and to build relationships with other creators who could offer advice and support as I grew my channel.

Another strategy I would use to build my fan base is to leverage the power of hashtags. Using relevant and popular hashtags can help you reach new audiences and get discovered by potential followers. It's important to use hashtags that are relevant to your niche and that your target audience is likely to be searching for.

To find the right hashtags, I would often look at what other creators in my niche were using, as well as search for popular hashtags that were relevant to my content. It's important to not go overboard with hashtags, as TikTok's algorithm tends to favor content that uses a smaller number of highly relevant hashtags.

Lastly, I would prioritize consistency in my content creation and posting. Consistency is key to building a loyal fan base on TikTok. By posting regularly and at predictable times, you'll build a following that knows when to expect new content from you.

I found that setting a schedule for myself was incredibly helpful in staying consistent. I would try to post a new video every other day, and I would usually film several videos at once to make sure that I always had something to post. It's important to not sacrifice quality for quantity, though.

Lastly, building a loyal fan base on TikTok requires patience, perseverance, and consistency. Starting from zero can seem daunting, but by following these steps and focusing on creating engaging content, you can slowly but surely build a following of dedicated fans. Remember, success on TikTok is not just about the numbers, but also about the impact you make on your audience. So stay true to your authentic self, be creative, and most importantly, have fun with it!
